Created by Spanish visual artist Yolanda Dominguez, “Poses” is a video commentary criticizing the unrealistic glamour that the fashion world impose upon models. The models in this video are portraying impossible, impractical and insanely difficult poses that the fashion world, especially the magazines, dictated for women to do. It is a parody of fashion publications that seem to relegate women roles, behaviors and attitudes. This video carries a strong message for women to be recognized for their worth which the mass media, through fashion, has so unfairly imposed upon. “Poses” seeks to educate how harmful and, at times, ridiculous imitating models in the fashion world can be.
