The Truth About Being Black in Brazil


Black in Latin America is a 2011 documentary created by PBS, based on a book with the same name by Henry Louis Gates, the director of the Institute for African and African American Research and holder of the distinguished title of Alphonse Fletcher University Professor at Harvard University.

Professor Gates visits many countries in Latin America and he finds the truth about being black in Brazil. During his time in the giant ‘rainbow nation’ Gates discovers an unexpected reality, a deeply hidden form of racism. Watch the video below to find out more.
