The Oustanding Performance of Anthony Hopkins in Amistad

Anthony Hopkins Plays John Quincy Adams

Last weekend I’ve watched Amistad, a film which was based on real facts that tells us a bit of the history of slavery and how some of the best of us helped to abolish it. The film is starred by Djimon Hounsou with an outstanding performance as Cinque, the man who was taken from his homeland Africa and sold as a slave. The more significant thing of watching Amistad is that it give you an insight to what sort of barbaries were committed during the time of slavery, and the way I see it, this is the exact sort of thing we—as in society—need as a stark reminder to prevent us from ever doing it again.

Now, if you ask me, one of the most inspiring part of the entire film happens with the short appearance of Sir Anthony Hopkins while playing John Quincy Adams and addressing the United States supreme court, that scene alone will drive shivers down your spine. For a moment, I felt proud to be American, even though I’m actually not.

Well, and if all of that wasn’t enough, this film also counts with the participation of Morgan Freeman, which by-the-way is one of my favorite actors render Amistad an actually masterpiece if you ask me.

Now, all you have to do is to watch the film. Enjoy!
