Created by the design studio Stinsensqueeze (STSQ) the “Human Printer” is an avant-garde project that involves picking up a picture and manually creating a CMYK halftone printing of it. Here is how the idea is described on their website:
“Unlike any other printer the human printer creates unique, individual images each time it prints. Following the same process as a digital printer, the human printer generates the printed product by hand. Throughout the printing process the human printer assumes the role of the machine and is therefore controlled and restricted by the process of using CMYK halftones created on the computer.”
The creation process of these pieces is immensely impressive, as you probably noticed from the video above, the people crafting the art need some good understanding of how a digital printer works, steady hands and a lot of patience to carefully build up the images.
All this hard work is well worth it if you ask me, the finished art looks fabulous and its uniqueness is very attractive, so is not surprising that the studio is now accepting orders to produce customised canvas.
