Christmas started earlier to the lucky kids of New Jersey as New Providence Fire Department ‘Santa Delivers Fundraiser’ is a big success bringing joy to children and raising needed donations to the fire station.
New Providence Fire Department was founded in 1902 and is a 100% volunteers company, depending on donations to keep the garage working. So an idea came to life to help them raise money to maintain fire equipment and bring happiness to kids in their community.
‘Santa Delivers Fundraiser’ started a couple of years ago; everyone in the department gets involved, and the whole event is a tremendous fun for the kids, and everyone else involved. The idea is quite witty if you think about it. Parents buy the presents to their kids, wrap them and drop them at the fire station. The firefights deliver them in style to the local community bringing smiles to everyone that cross their path.
They carefully plan their trip, and everyone gets involved, some of the firefighters dress like Santa and others dress like elves. And there they go, in fire trucks, delivering presents and bringing laughter to every street they visit. Here is what John Signorello, one of the four fire captains has to say about the event:
“The response has been tremendous once again this year. We certainly hope to keep growing the event as the new tradition continues. We have no problem keeping Santa busy. It’s a really enjoyable experience for the department and the residents.”
The donations raised by ‘Santa Delivers Fundraiser’ will be put to good use, and improve the firehouse, along to fixing some pretty important equipment.
