Amazingly, a new hybrid carnivore species was found in the American land after 35 years, the olinguito. Smithsonian Scientists claims that the new species belongs to the family of raccoons, coatis, kinkajous and olingos. The interesting bit of this story is that these animals have been in display in museums for more than 100 years but were mistaken by another species of the same family; the olingos, they have a thinner fur and a bigger skull. Interestingly, the olinguito looks a lot like a cross in between a cat and a bear. If this piece of news evoke the inner scientist in you, be sure to learn more on this site.
