When Sue Drummond took her tiny Maltese-Shih Tzu named Bibi for a walk in the local pier, all she wanted was to spend some quality time with her pet. She had no idea that winds of up to 60kph would blow Bibi into the water. So when it happened, Sue didn’t know what to do.
She hopeless looked at her dog while he tried to paddle back to her with very little success. It was then that Raden Soemawinata, who was on the Brighton pier that day to scatter his grandmother’s ashes into the bay, quickly stripped to his underwear and jumped into the sea torrents below the pier to save Bibi.
The whole story soon hit the news winning the hearts of animal lovers across the globe; the Animals Australia gave Raden a Compassionate Citizens Award from for his selfishness and bravery. He risked his life to save Bibi and heroism is incredibly heartwarming. Deep down this makes me regain faith in humanity.
